Levels Of Responsibility

The first level of responsibility is to recognize that the reactive mind is a choice that can be unchosen.

A higher degree is to see reaction as a creation that can be uncreated.

Beyond this is an awareness that the stimuli themselves are "reactions" which can be unchosen because one can elect one's response and through self awareness determine his direction.

Higher still, responsibility for the fact of self -- designed identities, not simply occupied ones.

Higher still: awareness -- impossible and unreal though it seems -- that reality itself is somehow a choice. Responsibility for that choice is the most difficult leap for human thought; it exceeds every ordinary paradigm.
