Where Feelings Come From

It is hard to look squarely at the truth because complexity has become such a familiar companion of the ordinary man. The conflicts between viewpoints he has disowned or misowned add up to an impossible row going, like living in a tenement, through all moments of a life time.

But the truth is that a being is NOT complicated beyond his own decision to resist viewpoints. This in turn derives from the decision to resist pain which is itself a lock on the decision to resist unconsciousness. The creation of unconsciousness is anathema to a being who is Knowing in his deepest nature.

A being, in simplicity, creates his own feelings, whether he is ready to allow himself that responsibility, or not so ready. The energy he pours into readiness and unreadiness alike is his own sweet knowing power, ready to turn the wheel on a dime.
